Do I pay for towing?
No. On the complete vehicles Jay buys in the Mission area, towing is included. There is no fuel charge, no winching fee and nothing taken off your quote after the truck arrives.
When do I get paid?
Cash is in your hand after the paperwork is signed and before the vehicle goes on the deck.
Can the price change when the truck shows up?
Jay sets the price himself and it is honoured at pickup, as long as the vehicle is what was described on the phone.
Does Jay come himself, or does somebody else?
You arrange the job with Jay. The pickup is done by Jay or by one of the drivers he has trained.
How is the value decided?
The vehicle itself: year, make, model, condition, whether it runs, how complete it is, whether its parts are still wanted, and what the recycled material is worth at the time.
How Fast Can You Come, And Do I Have To Be Home?
How fast can you pick it up?

Can you remove a vehicle that doesn't run?
Yes. The flat deck has a winch, so vehicles that won't start, won't steer or won't roll get pulled straight on. Flat tires, seized brakes, no keys and no battery are all common.
Do I have to be home?
Someone with photo ID and the ownership paperwork has to be there to sign and take the cash, but it doesn't have to be your house. A shop, a workplace or a relative's driveway all work.
Can you get a vehicle off gravel, a field or an acreage?

Should I clean the vehicle out first?
Check the glovebox, under the seats and the cargo area for anything you want to keep. Whatever is left goes with the vehicle.
What Paperwork Do I Need In BC?
Do I need the keys?
Keys help but are not always required. Tell Jay before pickup if they are missing, especially if the steering or shifter is locked.
What paperwork do I need?
Government photo ID and proof of ownership, normally the ICBC vehicle registration. The name on the registration should match the person signing and taking payment.
What if I lost the registration?
Tell Jay before pickup. Registration is helpful but not always required; the ownership situation needs checking first. An ICBC Autoplan broker can advise the registered owner about a replacement.
What happens to my licence plates?
Plates stay with you in BC, not with the vehicle. Pull them before the truck leaves, then cancel or transfer the insurance.
Can someone else sign for me?
It depends on the authorization and paperwork. Tell Jay in advance so you can confirm what is needed before arranging pickup.
Can Jay help with a family member's vehicle after a death?
Call Jay and explain the situation, even if you live outside Mission. He can discuss what information and paperwork need to be checked before pickup. Removal depends on the appropriate authorization; it is not automatic.
What about an out-of-province vehicle?
Usually fine as long as you can show ownership in your name. Have the out-of-province registration or title on hand and mention it when you call.

What happens after pickup?
Vehicles being recycled go to approved BC recycling facilities. Those facilities handle fluids, recover usable parts and recycle remaining metal. Jay does not operate a recycling yard.
Does the vehicle stay off my name?
Keep your copy of the completed transfer and confirm registration or insurance questions with an ICBC Autoplan broker. Your licence plates stay with you.
