What Happens To A Vehicle That Sits For Years?

Sitting can lead to a dead battery, seized brakes and deteriorating tires. In wet weather, you may also see moss on the roof and hood, rust working into the frame and brake lines, and tires going flat and cracking.

Vehicles parked near trees or fields often get mice in the wiring and seats. Brakes seize, batteries die, and fuel goes stale. Tell me what you can see. It helps me how the vehicle will behave on the winch.

Can You Remove A Junk Car From A Rural Property?

Yes. Acreages and rural lots in places like Hatzic Prairie, Dewdney, Steelhead and along Dewdney Trunk Road are normal pickups.

What matters is the route from the road to the vehicle. Long gravel driveways, gates, slopes, soft ground, low branches and a vehicle wedged between a shop and a fence all change how the job is done. Between the flat deck and the wrecker, most can be reached. A couple of photos sent by text helps a lot.

How Is A Junk Car Recycled?

Vehicles being recycled go to approved BC recycling facilities. I arrange removal and delivery; I do not operate a recycling yard.

Fluids are drained and handled properly, usable parts can be recovered for vehicles still on the road, and the steel and aluminium are recycled. That recovered value is why an old vehicle that will never drive again is still worth something.

What Paperwork Do I Need For An Old Vehicle?

Government photo ID and proof of ownership, normally the ICBC registration in the seller's name.

Keys and registration help but are not always required. Tell me before pickup if either is missing so we can confirm what is needed. Plates stay with you in BC, so take them off before the truck leaves.

Common Questions

Can you remove a car that's been sitting for years?

Yes. Moss, flat tires, seized brakes, a dead battery and rodent damage are all expected on vehicles that have sat a long time.

Do you take vehicles with missing parts?

Tell me what is missing. Missing wheels, an engine or other major parts can affect the value and pickup arrangements or require paid removal. We agree on that before booking.

Can you get a vehicle out from behind a shop or barn?

Usually, yes. Describe the path from the road to the vehicle and anything in the way, and I'll tell you what's needed.

What happens to a junk car after you take it?

Vehicles being recycled go to approved BC recycling facilities. They handle fluids, recover usable parts and recycle the remaining metal.

What if I can't find the registration for an old vehicle?

Tell me before pickup. An ICBC Autoplan broker can usually reprint it for the registered owner.

Tell me what the vehicle is, what's wrong with it and where it's parked. You'll get a straight answer on the call.
