How Scrap Car Removal Works, Step By Step

One call, one visit, cash in hand before the vehicle moves. Here is what happens, in order.

What Happens When You Call?

I pick up and ask five things: year, make and model, whether it runs, where it's parked, and whose name is on the registration. From that you get a cash number on the same call.

If the vehicle is behind other vehicles, on gravel, on a slope, or hasn't moved in years, mention it. That tells me which truck and what gear to send.

How Soon Can The Vehicle Be Gone?

Usually the same day or the next day in Mission. You pick the window: before school drop-off, after a shift, or mid-morning while the driveway is clear.

Someone with photo ID and the ownership paperwork needs to be there to sign and take the cash, but it doesn't have to be at your house. Shops, workplaces and a relative's driveway all work.

Who Shows Up, And What Happens Then?

3. Take your licence plates off. In BC they stay with you.

5. The vehicle is winched onto the deck, strapped down and hauled away.

How Do You Load A Vehicle That Won't Move?

With a winch and a flat deck, slowly. A vehicle that has been sitting has seized brakes, flat tires and rusty mounting points, so it gets pulled onto the deck from a proper pull point rather than dragged across your driveway.

Brakes seize because moisture gets into the drums and calipers and the pads bond to the rotor, which is normal after a wet Mission winter or two. Flat tires slide on skates or roll on the winch line. No keys and no battery make no difference, because the vehicle doesn't need to start, steer or roll.

I ask about the driveway, the slope, the gravel and the access before the truck goes out, so the right equipment comes with it. Doing it carefully takes a few extra minutes and looks after your driveway, your fence and whatever is parked nearby.

Where Does The Vehicle Go After It Leaves?

Straight to a licensed recycler with a paper trail. Fluids are drained and handled properly, usable parts can be recovered for vehicles still on the road here, and the steel and aluminium get recycled.

Because the transfer was signed properly, ownership moves off you. Cancel or transfer the insurance once the plates are off.
