How Scrap Car Removal Works, Step By Step
I buy running and non-running vehicles in Mission and come to where they are parked. We agree on the price and pickup, complete the paperwork, then you're paid before loading.
What Happens When You Call?
I ask the year, make, model, condition, what's wrong, whether it runs, any major missing parts and where it's parked. Tell me if the keys or registration are missing. We discuss a quote and what is needed for pickup.
If the vehicle is behind other vehicles, on gravel, on a slope, or hasn't moved in years, mention it. That tells me which truck and what gear to send.
Free towing is included for complete vehicles I buy. Missing wheels or major parts can affect pickup or require paid removal. We agree on that before booking.
How Soon Can The Vehicle Be Gone?
Call to check the available pickup times in Mission. We agree on a window that works for you and the access to the vehicle.
Someone with photo ID and the ownership paperwork needs to be there to sign and take the cash, but it doesn't have to be at your house. Shops, workplaces and a relative's driveway all work.
Who Shows Up, And What Happens Then?
A flat deck, driven by me or by one of my drivers. The truck backs in, the vehicle gets looked over, and the number you agreed on is confirmed. Then the paperwork, the plates, the cash, and the load. The time needed depends on access and the vehicle.
- 1. Walk around the vehicle and confirm the quote.
- 2. Sign the ownership transfer together, with every line explained.
- 3. Take your licence plates off. In BC they stay with you.
- 4. Cash in your hand, before the vehicle goes anywhere.
- 5. The vehicle is winched onto the deck, strapped down and hauled away.
How Do You Load A Vehicle That Won't Move?
With a winch and a flat deck, slowly. A vehicle that has been sitting can have seized brakes, flat tires and rusty mounting points, so it gets pulled onto the deck from a proper pull point rather than dragged across your driveway.
Brakes seize because moisture gets into the drums and calipers and the pads bond to the rotor, which is normal after a wet Mission winter or two. Flat tires slide on skates or roll on the winch line. A missing key can affect steering or the shifter, so mention it first. The vehicle does not need to start for the winch to load it.
I ask about the driveway, the slope, the gravel and the access before the truck goes out, so the right equipment comes with it. A flat deck carries the vehicle; a wrecker can lift one end when positioning or access calls for it. Careful loading and looks after your driveway, your fence and whatever is parked nearby.
Where Does The Vehicle Go After It Leaves?
Vehicles being recycled go to approved BC recycling facilities with a paper trail. Fluids are drained and handled properly, usable parts can be recovered for vehicles still on the road here, and the steel and aluminium get recycled.
Keep your copy of the completed transfer. Ask an ICBC Autoplan broker about cancelling or transferring the insurance once the plates are off.
